About Rails
Rails or bars can be used for lots of purposes, when mounted on the camera through a rail support they will protect the lens from damage and at the same time provide a support for a matte box.
Rails are also ideal to mount other accessories such as a follow focus. The standard diameter for rails is 15 mm and for high-end and demanding users 19 mm is the preferred size.
Vocas rails are available in many different length and are made of aluminium or carbon fibre.
